Elk River, MN (July 11-12) — With the Duo fully intact, Johnny and CJ Greaves were ready to go to work at ERX Off-road National in Elk River, Minnesota this past weekend. CJ walked away with his 2nd win of the year in Pro-4 along with a 3rd place Pro-4 podium and 2nd place podiums in Pro Stock and Pro SXS classes. Johnny made off with a couple top 5 finishes in. Pro-4 in some fierce racing. CJ jumped up into first place in the Pro-4 standings.
Pro Stock SXS
Saturday: CJ’s MonsterEnergy Polaris RZR was in 2nd place early with Jeb Bootle in the lead for part of the first lap. A spin out by Bootle put Kirchmeier in the lead who had already passed CJ. Some how David Gay made his way to the front as the top 3 or 4 pulled away from the field. Cross Kirchmeier passed him and CJ passed David Gay before the competition caution.
On the restart, the top 4 cars were nose-to-tail and battling each other hard with Jeb Bootle back in the mix. CJ passed Kirchmeier on the final lap to take the runner up spot on the podium.
Sunday: CJ started on the 2nd row and landed in 4th after the dust settled. No cars were pressing too hard in the first half of the race but the top 4 pulled away from the field. CJ was still in 4th at the halfway point of the race.
On the restart, Bootle and Brody Sands got crossed up in the split track. CJ was able to take advantage and moved up to 3rd. With less than a minute to go, CJ was receiving pressure from Collin Truett. Bootles’ Polaris was in the lead. On the final lap, Truett knocked CJ off the podium, taking the 3rd place spot.
Pro SXS
Saturday: CJ started on the front row of the Pro SXS class but lost several spots on the first. lap with Bootle in the lead and CJ not far back in 3rd. Ronnie Anderson hit the berm at the entrance to the split track. Meanwhile a rollover brought out a caution. Ronnie Anderson was in the lead at the time. with less than 3 minutes to go in the race, the green flag flew once again. CJ was on the move and took 4th when Anderson and Wolfe got together in the split track section. Wolfe and Carlson passed CJ late pushing him off the podium in 5th.
Sunday: CJ started on row two and made some smooth moves to take 2nd early in the race with Jeb Bootle in the lead. The two Polaris led the field stretching their lead with each lap leading up to the competition caution.
CJ held on to the runner up spot through most of the 2nd half of the race. Nathan Wolff made a surge and passed but on the final lap, he was off pace handing 2nd back to CJ. He worked hard to find a way around Bootle to no avail before the checker flag flew.
Pro-4
Saturday: CJ was the top qualifier and started on the poll but Johnny lined up on the rear of the field. Jimmy Henderson was also on the front row. Henderson took the early lead but experience some type of mechanical issue which put CJ in the lead. Mickey Thomas passed CJ just ahead of the competition caution. Cenni and Carlson had flats and were able to get them changed during the caution. Tires were not holding up in the rough conditions, however, CJ and Johnny’s Toyo Tires were strong and hooking up for the Greaves Duo. On the restart for the 2nd half of the race, CJ took the lead momentarily from Thompson, but Thompson also had a flat allowing CJ to take the lead. A late full course caution bunched the field together again. CJ held the lead on the restart and Johnny moved into the top 5. CJ took the win, his 2nd of the year since getting back into the driver’s seat.
Sunday: Mayhem and aggressive driving was the story of the day for Sunday’s Pro-4 action. CJ started on the front row with Johnny on the back row. Mickey Thomas was also on the front row and took the early lead but Jimmy Henderson made an aggressive move between the top two drivers and claimed the lead. Then he lost control, hitting the berm in the middle of the split track and took a wicked crash which blocked the track. CJ checked up to avoid hitting him while Johnny and RJ Anderson passed them in the grass. CJ was able to get around the wreck. At this point, Mickey Thomas had a huge lead with Johnny in 3rd and CJ in 4th. Thomas was penalized for going too fast around the local caution and had to serve a stop-and-go penalty. He did not lose much ground though and was able to regain the lead even though Anderson passed him just as he was exiting the hot pits.
Johnny and CJ were together and racing each other as the red/yellow flag flew for the competition caution. On the restart CJ took 3rd. Carlson got into Johnny at the entrance to the split track then the two collided again in the middle of the split track which took Johnny out of the race. CJ had a right front flat and ducked into the hot pits for a quick tire change. When he got back on the track he was a lap down but in 3rd place due to all the racers out of the event. Thomas finished in first followed by RJ Anderson and CJ.
At the end of the weekend, CJ emerged in the points lead by a narrow margin. Johnny remained in 4th place in the standings.
The Greaves Duo will make the short trip to to the Dirt City Off-Road National on July 24-26, 2026 in Lena, WI.
